Send Redirect in JSP page

This is an example of how to send Redirect in a JSP page. JavaServer Pages (JSP) is a server-side programming technology that enables the creation of dynamic, platform-independent method for building Web-based applications. JSP have access to the entire family of Java APIs, including the JDBC API to access enterprise databases. Sending Redirect in a JSP page implies that you should:

  • Inside the <%code fragment%> scriptlet use the sendRedirect(String location) API method of javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest, with a given URL where the redirection will be, to send a temporary redirect response to the client using the specified redirect location URL.

Let’s take a look at the code snippet that follows:

SendRedirect.jsp

<html>

</head>

<body>

	<%
	    String redirectURL = "http://examples.javacodegeeks.com/";
	    response.sendRedirect(redirectURL);
	%>

</body>
