Set foreground color in JLabel
With this example we shall show you how to set foreground color in a JLabel
component in Java Desktop Applications. This will enrich and customize your GUI components.
It’s very easy to set the foreground color in a JLebel
, as all you have to do is:
- Create a class that extends
JFrame
. - Create a new
JLabel
. - Use
JLabel.setForeground(Color.[COLOR_CODE])
to set the foreground color. - Use add method to add the
JLabel
to the frame.
Let’s see the code snippet tha follows:
package com.javacodegeeks.snippets.desktop; import java.awt.Color; import java.awt.FlowLayout; import javax.swing.JFrame; import javax.swing.JLabel; public class SetForegroundColorInJLabel extends JFrame { private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L; public SetForegroundColorInJLabel() { // set flow layout for the frame this.getContentPane().setLayout(new FlowLayout()); JLabel label = new JLabel("Java Code Geeks - Java Examples"); // Sets the foreground color of this component. It is up to the // look and feel to honor this property, some may choose to ignore it. label.setForeground(Color.BLUE); // add label to frame add(label); } private static void createAndShowGUI() { //Create and set up the window. JFrame frame = new SetForegroundColorInJLabel(); //Display the window. frame.pack(); frame.setVisible(true); frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); } public static void main(String[] args) { //Schedule a job for the event-dispatching thread: //creating and showing this application's GUI. javax.swing.SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable() { public void run() { createAndShowGUI(); } }); } }
