LinkedList

Convert LinkedList to Object array example

This is an example of how to convert a LinkedList to an Object array. Converting a LinkedList to an array implies that you should:

  • Create a new LinkedList.
  • Populate the list with elements, with add(E e) API method of LinkedList.
  • Get an array containing all of the elements in this list in proper sequence (from first to last element), using toArray() API method of LinkedList.
  • Note that no references to the returned array are maintained by this list. The caller is thus free to modify the returned array.

Let’s take a look at the code snippet that follows:

package com.javacodegeeks.snippets.core;

import java.util.LinkedList;

public class LinkedListToArray {

  public static void main(String[] args) {

    // Create a LinkedList and populate it with elements
    LinkedList linkedList = new LinkedList();
    linkedList.add("element_1");
    linkedList.add("element_2");
    linkedList.add("element_3");
    linkedList.add("element_4");
    linkedList.add("element_5");

    // Object[] toArray() method returns an array containing all of the elements in this set
    Object[] objArray = linkedList.toArray();

    System.out.println("Elements in Array :");
    for(int i=0; i < objArray.length ; i++)

System.out.println(objArray[i]);

  }
}

Output:

Elements in Array :
element_1
element_2
element_3
element_4
element_5
