Simple for loop

This is an example of a simple for statement. The for statement provides a compact way to iterate over a range of values. Programmers often refer to it as the “for loop” because of the way in which it repeatedly loops until a particular condition is satisfied. Creating a simple for loop implies that you should:

  • Create a for statement with an int number that is the index, with an initialization expression that is executed once, then the termination expression, that terminates the loop when equal to false. It also has an increment expression  that is invoked after each iteration through the loop; it is perfectly acceptable for this expression to increment or decrement a value.

Let’s take a look at the code snippet that follows:  

package com.javacodegeeks.snippets.basics;

public class SimpleForLoopExample {
	
	public static void main(String[] args) {
		
		int count = 5;
		
		for (int index = 0; index<count ; index++) {
			System.out.println("Index is now : " + index);
		}
		
	}

}

Output:

Index is now : 0
Index is now : 1
Index is now : 2
Index is now : 3
Index is now : 4
